C-17 Two Bay Corrosion/Fuel Cell Hangar

Pittsburgh, PA Ben Hur was contracted to erect the structural steel and miscellaneous iron at the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station for the conversion of the base from the C-130 aircraft to the C-17 aircraft operation and maintenance. The project design and oversight was performed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The structure consisted of a two bay hangar and three mechanic shop buildings (approximately 2,800 tons, 115,000 sf with 18 trusses spanning 204′). The conversion of the 911th Airlift Wing from the C-130 aircraft will accommodate up to eight C-17 aircraft when complete. The C-17 aircraft will be maintained and operated at the 445th Airlift Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio until the project is complete....

Louisville, KY Ben Hur was contracted to erect the Structural Steel and Misc Metals package for the Omni Hotel and Residences in downtown Louisville Kentucky.  Ben Hur is erecting 400 tons of structural steel framing consisting of Trusses and standard beam framing at the podium level.  We are also erecting 32 long span bar joist type 72DLHSP  at 117′ each and 15 long span bar joist type 80SLHSP at 90′ each to create the Grand and Junior Ballrooms.  Other structural components consist of various canopies and an elaborate “Porte Cache'” entrance canopy of all AESS finishes.  A unique aspect of the project is that there are no structul steel columns on the project.  All of our attachments are to embeded plates in the cast in place columns and walls.   The Misc Metals package is approximately 146 tons. Included in the Misc Metals package we are installing divider beams and guide tubes in 6 different elevator shafts ranging from 4 floors to 32 floors. In the 2 ballrooms we are installing the partition wall support beams and all of the rigging support steel consisting of over 8,000 linear feet of cut angle. Installation of Soffit framing, Curtain wall support framing, and brick angle throughout the entire structure is also a major portion of the Misc Metals package....
