Building Information Modeling
Building information modeling is a part of the future of construction project management. BIM is the process of generating and managing building data. This Building Information Modeling technology offers virtual design and construction of a building in three-dimensions. The dynamic building modeling can increase productivity in building design and construction. The process generates a Building Information Model which encompasses building geometry, spatial relationships, geographic information, and quantities and properties of construction materials. The virtual model is composed of multiple databases in which project information can be stored and evaluated.
Modeling can save on project costs by showing construction problems before they occur in the field. The modeling can be very basic, so as to determine basic buildability through complete project management layout including: room finish tracking, furniture layout, facilities management and construction phasing.
